Welcome!
To the "Little Hands Nursery Schools"Website

Based in Cambridge and the surrounding villages "Little Hands Nursery Schools"provide quality pre-school education and childcare to children of 2 to 5 years of age by offering a stimulating learning environment which, supported by a very high adult to child ratio, means we are able to give more individual attention to all our children.

The unique "Little Hands" building block approach to the provision of sessions allow us to construct fully flexible packages of sessions tailor made to individual requirements which are of benefit to parents, children and employers alike and unrivalled by our competitors.

"Learning Through Play" is Learning For Life

Nursery School is your child's first step into the world of formal education, a step taken during their most receptive and formative years. At "Little Hands" we appreciate that your child’s Nursery Schools experience will provide the basis for starting school so it is essential that these are happy times for your child allowing confidence, independence and learning skills to develop properly.

The "Little Hands" curriculum is closely based on the Foundation Stage Curriculum using the six early learning goals for 2 to 5 year olds and we apply our philosophy of "Learning Through Play" to ensure that learning is fun, giving opportunity for success, developing confidence and acquiring new skills in preparation for full time education.

The Ofsted inspectorate found all "Little Hands" Nursery Schools to be either "Outstanding" or "Very Good" with both the Newton and Bourn Nursery Schools holding the Effective Early Learning Quality Assurance and Sure Start Investors in Children Awards.

The Nursery Education Fund (NEF) is available for all children the term after their third birthday and is currently worth £8.20 for a 2.5 hour session. Please note that for the purposes of eligibility, the Education Department states that terms are from 1st January, 1st April and 1st September irrespective of the actual date term starts (this age criteria also applies to booking sessions).

Each child is allocated five 2.5 hour sessions per week for 38 weeks per year. Parents can book more than 5 sessions with the extra being charged at full price. Also, the sessions can be split between more than one setting e.g. 5 sessions at "Little hands" (3 with NEF and 2 full price) and 2 sessions at a playgroup (with NEF) total 7 sessions per week, 5 with NEF and 2 at full price. Please note NEF cannot be used for holiday club.
At "Little Hands" the 2.5 hour NEF session either forms part of the half or full day sessions (with additional fees being charged for the remaining time) or can be used for a fully funded 2.5 hour session from 1:30 to 4:00pm.

"Little Hands" will give you the necessary form to complete the term before your child is eligible for NEF and processes the application for you. Should you require further details of NEF there are leaflets available from Cambridgeshire County Council or the Nursery managers.
