Welcome to Little Hands Melbourn
Little Hands Nursery School - Melbourn offers high quality play and learning opportunities in a set of curious and creative environments for babies and children from 6 months to 5 years.
The setting is set within the heart of Melbourn, situated between the play park and the sports playing field on the Moor.
The building allows for the ability for the setting to have two sides, a side for our Preschoolers (3 to 5 years), using the Butterfly and the Dragonfly Rooms, and a side for our Toddler and Babies (6 months to 3 years), using the Ladybird and Bumblebee Rooms.
The Butterfly Room at the back of the building is a large, calm and inviting space which has direct access to the garden environment allowing us to offer free flow inside-outside play. The room accommodates play spaces to explore creativity, to try out ideas, to build on previous experiences and to be calm. The room also allows for the children to continuously develop their independence and confidence through accessible resources and invitations to play. The Dragonfly Room joins on to this room, where a similar environment continues but also provides a space for mealtimes.
The Ladybird Room, situated at the front of the building, is an open space that promotes the curiosity and exploration of our younger hands. It offers an area to get creative and messy, as well as carpet spaces to play and engage. This room joins on to our Bumble Bee Room, which is our dedicated baby room. It is a calming, homely environment, where our littlest hands can grow and develop.
Our outdoor environment, used by the whole nursery, offers a large range of opportunities that continuously support physical and social development. The children have a paved, a bark and a grass area to use how they choose, as well as a climbing tree, a mud pit and mud kitchen.
The Children at Little Hands Melbourn are the heart of our environment. We see and hear the importance of each and every individual child and their needs, ideas and interests and we promote this within the environment and the activities that we provide, offering as many real life experiences and resources as we can.
